Pretty Porto

I was fortunate enough to have a chance to visit two cities in Portugal in the beginning of the Easter break- Porto and Lisbon! In this post, I will walk you through my wondrous day in Porto, making sure to soak up every beautiful bit this city has to offer.

1. Afternoon coffee at Cafe Majestic
Named as one of the most beautiful cafes in the world, it doesn't disappoint. Located in the middle of the busy street of Rue Santa Catarina, it's the perfect place to just sit outside and watch all kinds of passerby going about. If the weather isn't so kind, sit inside instead, and enjoy the grand interior of the cafe. The waiter/tresses are very friendly and speak English very well, too!

2. Avenue dos Aliados - Praca da Liberdade
The city's most famous boulevard! On one end you can see the Town Hall (with the tall bell tower) and on the other, square of Praca da Liberdade. You can see that this boulevard is very busy in traffic during the days. Also, in between there are stones scattered around- They're not just ordinary stones, half of them are covered with decorative tiles which are just plain intriguing.

3. Pre-sunset stroll at Palacio de Cristal // Crystal Palace Gardens
If you are a fan of parks and gardens (or even if your'e not), you won't want to miss strolling around this beautiful garden overlooking the Douro river. To lead you to the view? Just follow the path of roses and you're there! Warning- the rose bushes might captivate you with its beauty, making your way to the breathtaking view slightly longer than expected. ;)

4. Sunset drinks at Cais de Gaia
Cross the bridge to see how Porto looks like from the other side of the river. While doing that, you might want to have a drink or two in Cais de Gaia! Their wide selection of restaurants could please any palates, and combined with the view? You're just glad you're in Porto.

EXTRAS!

Foz- A stroll by the sea.
By now you must have already notice that Porto offers plenty of beautiful strolls to go about. One you shouldn't miss, is Foz. Right next to the sea, this might not be your usual beach, but trust me when I say it's just as scenic. Have a glass of refreshing beverage at the famous Praia da Luz, whilst enjoying the ever so scenic view of the surroundings.
