The Lively City that is Lisbon

The other city that I visited when in Portugal was of course, the capital Lisbon. However I was there for only a brief period of time hence I wasn't able to thoroughly experience this whole city. Nonetheless, here are some of the highlights of the city!

1.  PadrĂ£o dos Descobrimentos & Torre de Belem, Belem.
Also known as the Monuments to the discoveries, this imperial structure is located slightly away from the city centre, but still just a few minutes train ride away. If you walk from the train station, you would be able to see this picturesque view of the monuments covered with boats at the docks.
After you're done admiring the monuments, it only takes a few minutes stroll to see yet another majestic structure, which is the Tower of Belem.

2. Jeronimos Monastery, Belem.
On the way back to the train station, once you've crossed the street you'd be taken aback by the fountain and the greens surrounding it. That means you're at the compound of the Jeronimos Monastery. Its grand reinassance-style structure made it clear why it's considered as one of UNESCO Heritage Site.

3. Pedro IV Square (Rossio Square)
The Pedro IV Square, or its rather more popular name Rossio Square is located smack in the middle of downtown Lisbon Area, and it has been since the Middle Ages!

4. Arco da Rua Augusta
Walk south of Rossio square, and you will be greeted with this festive square filled with street artists and Cafes, that will enhance the West-European atmosphere. Have a drink or two in one of these cafes and just sit by and watch the sunsets through this magnificent arch.

5. Praca do Comercio
Wanna get a front row seat to the river? This is definitely where you should go! Just on the other side of the arch, this uncrowded (well, maybe a little bit) square is filled with cozy and well-known cafes and restaurants, perfect for a Sunday brunch or any other meals, really.
