A Lavender Affair

Finally the brighter days are here! Ever since I'm back from my trip to the states (more of that later!), the UK weather has been extraordinarily nice, which makes our short trip to the lavender field even more lovely than I was expecting. Departing from central London around 3pm in the afternoon, the sun was just perfect when we arrive. We have always wanted to go to a lavender field, and now that everyone is done with their exams, it seems like it was the right time to explore the suburbs. After doing some research online, we found out that the field nearest to us was the Mayfield Lavender. On their website it is written clearly on how to get there via public transportation, but just in case I'm gonna tell you how we got there (via public transport, of course!)

1. Go to the London Bridge station, (rail station, not the underground ones)
2. Check for the trains leading to Purley via Woodmansterne.
3. Stop at Woodmansterne, exit the station and find bus stop B (it's across the street)
4. Wait for the 166 bus.
5. Once you're on the bus, stop at Oaks Park.
6. The Mayfield Lavender field is on your left!

Some tips though, you might want to check the timetable of the bus cause it's not as frequent as the ones in central London. Also, although it's not underground trains, you can still board the train using your oyster card (yay). They will charge the card with a zone 6 fare.

All and all, I hope it's clear enough of a direction for you who wish to get there, and I assure you, it's worth the trip! It's less than 1 hour from the London Bridge station, but the view is completely amazing. We really enjoyed our time there, and there are shops selling all kinds of lavender stuff, from ice cream, shortbread, to cute little lavender hangers! (with the scent, too)

Btw, pardon my (super) tanned skin, apparently LA sun is too hot for me to handle! (again, more on that later ;) )
